Feb 17 2019- WInter Fieldstone Newsletter
Note from Rev Inger ~
As always we are excited about all we have going on. I have been praying about what Fieldstone is called to do in our community. After all, when God plants a church and continues to allow it to bloom there is a reason. What I have discerned so far is this:
Fieldstone is a loving community~ a family. Who needs such a place? So many people. We live in a time of great disconnectedness and loneliness. For some, it is the result of moving here, away from where they were brought up. For some, it is the result of aging, of losing friends and family. For some, it is the result of being exceptional in some way. So many people are looking!
For all of those reasons, it is my hope that Fieldstone might continue to be a safe haven of God’s love for our community and for anyone who God brings through our doors.
SPECIAL OLYMPICS!
In particular, we have reached out to Special Olympics and have some events planned for the athletes- we will be having a few game days that I hope that all of our members will come out and support. Playing Bingo or other games as a community is just plain fun! Come, bring your smiles, bring your cookies or your fruit plates or your snacks. Let’s show these adults our love and welcoming spirit. The dates are Feb 23, 1:00-2:30, April 13 Glow in the Dark Egg Hunt, May 18, Aug 3.
SPRING EGG-STRAVAGANZA!
We are also partnering with Live and Learn Academy to reach out to our community with our first annual Spring Egg-stravaganza March 30, from 2-4. We will be using the classrooms for games and for crafts and snacks. The afternoon will culminate in an egg hunt at 345.
Volunteers and filled eggs are needed. (side note- we will also have a small egg hunt following Easter service for our children as we do each year)
NEW DIRECTOR OF CHILDREN’S MINISTRY- James Murphy
My name is “Murph” and I have been living in North Carolina for 22 years. I fell in love
with this State early in my adult life, when I was stationed with the USMC in the Eastern Parts of
North Carolina. The diversity of destinations and terrain that North Carolina presents, made the
decision to call this state my home, an easy decision. Nothing beats watching the slow transitions that take place as a new season morphs into place. I am originally from California, where there are usually two seasons, Summer and Winter.I am married with 2 daughters, 4 granddaughters, and a grandson. They live in Iredell county allowing me to see them on a consistent basis. My wife has a very unique name, M’Liss. Yes, it is missing a vowel or two. Her dad saw the 1937 film with the same name as a title and was intrigued with the name. My favorite sport is baseball and I enjoy throwing the ball around with one of my grandkids.I decided to go back to college after a 31-year break. I will be pursuing a Master of Divinity
Degree. I have worked in Ministry for over 20 years and am a volunteer Police Chaplain for the
city of Mooresville. I am currently employed as a service technician for Banking equipment.
The job allows me to stay local but still be able to visit the countryside and mountains each day.
I have a tremendous love of community and family. God has such amazing plans for us and
having the opportunity to share Jesus with our friends and family is a true blessing.
